Here are some frequently asked questions about LDND.

What does dyslexia mean to you?

I think of dyslexia as an advantage; it has made me more self-aware about the learning methods that work best for me, and forced me to take control of my education. I am grateful for the excellent teachers who have helped me see past the idea of dyslexia as a handicap.

Are LDs associated with intelligence?

Short answer: no. Defining intelligence is a difficult task, and most experts agree that the common idea of intelligence is incomplete. Howard Gardner, for instance, argued that there are multiple types of intelligence, each of which is important in its own way. These types include Musical, Interpersonal, Linguistic, Visual-Spatial, Bodily, Logical, etc. As a society, we need to expand our definition of intelligence and be creative about how we teach people with different strengths.
